Christmas came early for Pearl

Christmas came early for Pearl.

This is how the story started. It was only a few weeks ago when an I received an email from a mother who has a 10 year old daughter ‘Pearl’, who since grade 3 started to lose her hair.  She now suffers totally with Alopecia.
All Fran wanted was to find someone that could paint her head and find a photographer to take a couple of portrait images to be printed for the wall and to make Pearl feel beautiful.  My decision was immediate and volunteered my photographic services, as did my very first enquiry to Nikki The Clown (http://www.nikkitheclown.com/) to be the artist. Of course, we would all be delighted to be part of making Pearl’s special pre-Christmas surprise.

Everything was arranged at my home and I had the good fortune to have two of my photography buddies to be part of this day.   Thank you to Joy Melchiori for being my second shooter and Yvonne Rein for being our assistant with reflectors and just being plain good fun.  Nikki created sheer magic and what a privilege it was to watch her painting skills.  Moment by moment Nikki created magic with a beautiful evolving collage of brightly coloured butterflies, dolphins, leaves and glitter.  She is an amazing talented woman for sure.

We will always remember this day as one of the most rewarding and special moments in our lives.

Pearl is the most remarkable stunning girl.  Her smile will light up any room and she has the most wonderful personality to match.  What a darling.  To see the joy in her eyes when she looked in the mirror whispering “I look beautiful” was heart warming. To see the tears of gratitude in her mother’s eyes was all the thanks that anyone would want. Not to mention how all our eyes welled up at times.

We hope that just for a moment we spread Christmas cheer all around.  We know that our lives have been enriched and the memories will linger on. And most of all we have to give our heartfelt thanks to gorgeous Pearl for permitting us to be part of her very private world. Yes, Pearl, you are indeed beautiful – inside and out.
